The story takes place in Europe in the year a.t.b. 2017. A Knightmare unit made of boys and girls from Area Eleven are thrown into a military operation with a 5%chance of survival. They must rescue an allied unit left behind on the European warfront.

2017年，超级大国“不列颠尼亚帝国”（Britannia）朝著称霸世界的目标，征服了世界近3分之1的版图。此时，7年前被改称“11区”的日本出现了动乱，牵动了世界对抗不列颠尼亚帝国的斗心。 帝国早前与统领部分欧洲和非洲势力的E.U.达成停战协议。由于动乱出现，和平关系都随之破裂，不过在强硬的军事侵略下，E.U.并没有在战事中得到优势。一群“11区”的少年少女决定加入这场地狱战线，驾驶Knightmare参与这个目标及原因未明、战胜率只有5%的大战…… 《コードギアス 亡国のアキト》是日本日升动画制作的Code Geass动画系列外传。「Code Geass GAIDEN 亡国的阿基德」的故事将设定于「反叛的鲁鲁修」同期的皇历2017年，舞台不再是不列颠尼亚帝国，也不是11区，而是第三方的EU欧洲战线。而当中的主角也确定不是鲁鲁修，而是确定为日向・阿基德，是作为EU军所属的11区人民，女主角的名称则是蕾拉，身份是阿基德的上司。

皇历2010年，与E.U.陷入长久消耗战的布里塔利亚帝国突然掉转枪头，占领了远东的日本，并将其划为“11区”。这一事件导致大批日本人流亡海外，许多人的命运由此改写。7年后，在布里塔利亚的蚕食下，E.U.的战线不断收缩，劣势日益突显。为此，E.U.网罗了流亡者组成非正规军W-zero部队，将他们派往极度危险且生还率超低的最前线。这一次，W-zero被派去营救遭到帝国军队围困的E.U.军132部队。悲哀的是，W-zero战士的身上全被装配了炸药，高层试图让这些非正规军以命换命来消耗帝国的战斗力，借此帮132部队逃出生天。最终，唯一的幸存者阿基德凭借一己之力扭转战况，击败强敌，营救了盟友。    残酷的战场，阿基德的征程远远没有结束……
